Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign Swede forward Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a £55 million deal.
Elanga has been at the top of Eddie Howe’s shopping list, and Newcastle looks to be getting their main target with a few details left before the deal is sealed.
The 23-year-old is expected to undergo his medical on Tyneside this week, with the opportunity of playing Champions League football the main attraction in the proposed move.

The Sweden international joined Forest in a £15m deal from Manchester United in July 2023, having won the League Cup.
He enjoyed success with Forest, scoring 11 goals and providing 21 assists in 82 games, including six goals and 11 assists in 38 matches in the Premier League last season.
The Tricky Trees finished seventh in the league and qualified for the Conference League, their first appearance in European football since 1996.
Elanga’s move to Newcastle also provides a bit of extra profit for United, who are reported to have included a 15% sell-on clause in his initial deal to Forest.
This agreement follows the departure of England forward Callum Wilson from St. James Park after five years.
