The LA Lakers fail against the strong Memphis Grizzlies despite LeBron James’ MVP performance

LeBron James continues storming the NBA, despite being 37-years old. He displayed yet another fantastic performance, dropping 35 points against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, his efforts came up short as the Grizzlies snapped their 5-game winning streak, 119-127.

The guests won the game after incredible second and third quarters when they accumulated a 24-point lead. The team was more focused throughout the match which gave them the opportunity to rest some of their superstar in the last quarter.

Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. led the way for the winners with 23 points and 21 points respectively. The Grizzlies’ center, Jackson Jr., was also clinical in the paint as he finished off with 12 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Ja Morant enjoyed a more conservative performance, ending up with 16 points.

LeBron James put on yet another “one-man” show as he continued dropping dimes throughout the match. His 35 points on a 14-19 shooting from the field was not enough as his team failed to deliver.

Russell Westbrook, Avery Bradley, Malik Monk, and Carmelo Anthony finished the match with less than 25% FGM. They combined for just 27 points on 43 attempts. Their bench players took off as Austin Reaves, Dwight Howard and Wayne Ellington score more than the starters, despite having much less time on the court.

The Memphis Grizzlies are getting closer and closer to the top 3 in the Western Conference. They continue trailing back in 4th place with 28 wins and 14 losses. Ja Morant and his teammates will face the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night in an attempt to prolong their winning streak to 10 games.

The Los Angeles Lakers took their first loss for 2022, following four straight wins. This outcome dragged them back to 7th place in the West with a 21-20 record. The Lakers will try to get back on the winning road as they visit Sacramento on Wednesday.
