Tanzanian international Mbwana Samatta started life in the English Premier League on a high note after scoring a consolatory goal for Aston Villa in a 2-1 loss against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on match day 25.
The game between two of this season’s relegation contenders ended in favor of the home team, who opened the scoreline on the 37th minute by Phillip Billing.
The woes of Aston Villa was deepened when Belgian defender, Nathan Ake doubled the advantage to ensure the Cherries go on the break with a healthy lead.
Five minutes into the second half of the match, Colombian player, Jefferson Lemar was sent off after a second bookable offense, giving Villa hopes for a comeback.
The moment the East Africans waited for came in the 70th minute when Villa’s debutant, Samatta halved the scoreline with a well-taken header, ending the game on 2-1 in favor of Bournemouth.
The win as sent Bournemouth up to 16th place on the table, a position which was occupied by Villa before kick-off, taking them out of the relegation zone on 26 points.
