CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: THREE CITIES PRESELECTED TO HOST 2019-2020 FINAL

For the first time in the history of the Africa, CAF Champions League and CAF confederation cup will be played in a one-off match at a neutral venue instead of the traditional two-legged tie played home and away between the two finals

The tournament which used to be played on two legs affair (Home and Away) will be hosted by one city in Africa. Confederation of African Football (CAF) has shortlisted three African cities which one will be choosing to host the final.

The federations of Cameroon(Douala), Morocco(Casablanca), and Tunisia (Tunis) were the three Member Associations that applied to have their cities considered for the final of Africa’s biggest club football competition.

The three cities were put forward within the 20 February 2020 deadline set by CAF for interested countries to host the final. A decision is expected to be made by the CAF Emergency Committee on 12 March 2020 to select the final city.

According to the report, the CAF technical committee will be guided by some specific consideration of facilities such as infrastructure, accommodation, transportation and medical amongst.

The bid winners will host the Champions League and Confederation Cup final, which will take place on 24 and 29 February respectively.
