Former IBF middleweight championship Roy Jones Jr has reportedly insured his ears ahead of his comeback fight against Mike Tyson.
The 51-year-old will face his old foe in a hugely anticipated exhibition fight scheduled for September in Los Angeles.
Despite Tyson’s illustrious career, he is infamously remembered for biting Evander Holyfield’s ear during a fight in 1997.
Russia Today quotes Jones Jr’s manager Zsolt Barna as saying he deems it necessary to insure his ear.
This, Barna said, was to protect the boxer against a “possible extraordinary case” of Iron Mike chomping down an ear once again.
Meanwhile, Tyson has already been talking big ahead of the fight and recently said he was targeting a knockout win against Jones.
“This is search and destroy and I’m looking forward to recapturing my glory,” he told TMZ Sports.
“If the opportunity comes, I’m always looking for it,” he added.
