Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has described Frenchman Ousmane Dembele as ‘untouchable’.
The Barcelona star is believed to be on the radar of Manchester United should Jadon Sancho fail to move from the Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford.
Dembele is considered a fall-back option given the 23-year-old is still regarded as one of the finest talents in the world, despite his struggles at the Camp Nou since joining from Dortmund in 2017.
Fabrizio Romano’s words are in conflict of some reports that Barcelona are looking for a complete squad overhaul and that the majority of the players are being considered sellable.
On Tuesday night, Bartomeu insisted that Dembele is one of a small number of unsellable players this summer.
Asked which players were ‘non-transferable’ this summer, Bartomeu replied: Leo Messi and many other players. ‘It would be a cliché to just say Leo Messi. Messi is the best player in history but there are other non-transferable ones.
‘There are many young players. Ter Stegen, Lenglet, De Jong, Semedo, Dembélé, Griezmann. They are players that we count on a lot and who have come to spend many years at Barca’.
