Egypt to host CAF Champions League final game

The Confederation of African football (CAF) announced that the CAF Champions League final will be played in Egypt after holding a draw on Friday.

The African governing body held a draw to determine the country that will host the final after no country showed interest in staging the event.

The first-leg games of the semis will be held on 17 and 18 October, with the second leg matches taking place on 23 and 24 October. The final is set for 6 November.

Egypt’s Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek will face Moroccan sides Wydad de Casablanca and Raja de Casablanca respectively.

CAF announced late on Wednesday, a few hours before holding the draw, that if the final would take place in Morocco if the two Moroccan teams reached the final and in Egypt if both Ahly and Zamalek made it through.

All African sports activities were suspended for more than six months due to the coronavirus pandemic, including the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.
