Ibrahimovic slams EA Sports for using his face without his permission in FIFA 21

Zlatan Ibrahimovic slams EA Sports

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has made headlines after criticising the famous EA Sports videogame FIFA on Twitter. The AC Milan striker exploded on the social media website, stating that no one asked for permission to use his face or name in the game.

“Who gave FIFA EA Sport permission to use my name and face? @FIFPro?” Ibrahimovic wrote. “I’m not aware to be a member of Fifpro and if I am, I was put there without any real knowledge through some weird manoeuvre.

“And for sure I never allowed @FIFAcom or Fifpro to make money using me.” Zlatan’s complaint didn’t end there as he assured that he will investigate EA Sports and FIFA for profiting off of his image. “Someone is making profit on my name and face without any agreement all these years, time to investigate,” Ibrahimovic replied.

Gareth Bale also supported Ibrahimovic with a tweet.

“Interesting… What is FIFPRO? #TimeToInvestigate,” replied Bale. The company were quick to reply and try to solve the issue between themselves and Ibrahimovic.

“EA SPORTS FIFA is the world’s leading football videogame, and to create this authentic experience, we have worked with numerous leagues, teams, and individuals to ensure the players rights year after year,” the company said.

“One of these relationships that we have for quite some time is with the global representative of professional players, FIFPro, who partner with a number of licensors to negotiate agreements that benefit players and their unions.” It’s not the first time that a footballer has been bothered by a videogame for using his name and face without permission.

Something similar happened with Diego Maradona and Konami back in 2017 as the Argentine wasn’t happy with his inclusion on PES 2017.

“You are going to have to deal with a multi-million [euro] trial and with the money I receive I will build football pitches,” said Maradona. Both Konami and Maradona came to an agreement which saw his name and face erased from the game.
