Nebojsa Kapor says a sharper mindset ended Hearts of Oak's three-game winless run, and now the Phobians want to keep up the pressure on Medeama.
Hearts of Oak are back in the win column in the Ghana Premier League, and coach Nebojsa Kapor knows exactly what turned things around: the Phobians' state of mind. A 1-0 win over Port City FC ended a three-match run without victory that included one defeat and two draws.
Kapor said the shift was clear in how his squad prepared and how they walked into the game. "We approached with a very serious energy, very serious mindset and that was different," he said. He added that he is convinced the mental side gave his players the platform to get the result and set them back on a winning path.
The timing is useful. Hearts are second on 11 points, three behind leaders Medeama, so every dropped point matters in the chase. Next up is a Matchday 7 trip to face Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema Newtown, with kickoff at 15:00 GMT on Saturday, October 17.
Vision are 15th with six points and have gone five games without a win, which could make them dangerous opponents with little to lose. Kapor will want to see the same discipline and intensity that got Hearts past Port City, because momentum in this title race is fragile and the Phobians intend to hold on to theirs.
