Liverpool will be without Thiago Alcantara in the immediate future after the Spanish midfielder tested positive for COVID-19.
Thiago joined Liverpool from Bayern Munich last month in a deal worth up to £25m, and made his debut for the Premier League champions in a 2-0 win at Chelsea on September 20.
He will be out of action for the next two weeks, missing matches against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Liverpool shared a statement via the club’s official Twitter account: “Thiago Alcantara has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently self-isolating according to the necessary guidelines.

Having signed from Bayern Munich earlier in the summer, the former La Masia graduate has played just 45 minutes for the Merseyside club, although his ability to retain possession and complete passes really caught the eye in the aforementioned cameo.
Everton are set to take on Liverpool on October 17, in what could be a rare Merseyside derby with implications at the top of the table, yet Thiago is currently expected to return to take part in that match.
