Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new three-year contract at Arsenal, ending any lingering doubts about his future
The Gabon international’s previous deal had been set to expire in the summer of 2021 and he had been locked in talks over a renewal for several months.
The Gunners had been hugely reluctant to lose their skipper and top scorer of the last two seasons amid interest from big-name clubs such as Barcelona and Antonio Conte’s Inter.

“Signing for this special club was never in doubt,” Aubameyang said. “It’s thanks to our fans, my teammates, my family and everybody at this club that I feel like I belong here. We can achieve big things together. We have something exciting here and I believe the best is to come for Arsenal.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was excited about Aubameyang’s renewal, saying: “He’s a superb player with an incredible mentality,” Arteta said.
“He’s an important leader for the team and a big part of what we’re building. He wants to be up there with the best players in the world and leave his mark. He can achieve that here.”
Aubameyang joined the Gunners in January 2018 and won the Premier League Golden Boot in his first full season in 2018-19.
