Alidu Issah Fires Black Starlets Past Benin With Early Brace

Ghana's teenage striker struck twice inside eight minutes as the Black Starlets beat Benin 3-1 at the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.

Ghana's Alidu Issah is making the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship his stage. The striker scored twice in the opening eight minutes to power the Black Starlets to a 3-1 Group A win over Benin, and he was named Man of the Match.

Issah needed just four minutes to open the scoring, then added a second four minutes later. The blistering start put Kassim Ocansey's side firmly in control and showed why he is so important to Ghana's attack.

Benin pulled one back in the 31st minute to make it 2-1, which gave them hope of a comeback. Ghana stayed composed after the break and absorbed the pressure. Ocansey turned to his bench, bringing on Benedict Tano, Prince Apam, Stephen Gyasi, Nii Odoi Tawiah and Daniel Owusu to keep the team sharp.

The changes paid off in the 81st minute. Apam shook off his marker and set up Tawiah, who finished clinically to restore the two-goal cushion and seal all three points.

Issah's brace earned him the individual award, and the win moves the Black Starlets closer to the next stage of the tournament as Ghana's young talents continue to impress in the region.
