Dramani Awuah and Paul Attah Agyei struck either side of the break as Berekum Chelsea won 2-0 at Kpando despite being outplayed on the ball.
Berekum Chelsea finally have an away win to celebrate in the Ghana Premier League. The visitors went to the Kpando Stadium on Saturday and left with a 2-0 victory over Heart of Lions in Week 7, even though they spent most of the afternoon without the ball.
Dramani Awuah gave Chelsea the lead in the 40th minute, a goal that went against the run of play. Heart of Lions had controlled long spells of the first half, but they were made to pay for not turning that control into a goal. Chelsea took a vital lead into the break.
The hosts kept the ball after the restart but struggled to create anything clear. Chelsea stayed compact and disciplined, and they struck again in the 70th minute when Paul Attah Agyei doubled the advantage and put the visitors firmly in control.
The numbers show how lopsided the game was away from the scoreboard. Heart of Lions had 70 per cent of possession and won 11 corners, while Chelsea had 30 per cent of the ball and just one corner. But the visitors were far sharper in front of goal, and that decided the match.
It is a painful result for Heart of Lions, who have now lost two league games in a row. They will look to bounce back when they travel to face Bibiani Gold. Berekum Chelsea, meanwhile, will take real confidence from proving they can win on the road.
