Hasaacas Ladies lifted the Champion of Champions, but coach Raymond Fenny says a tough 2026/27 Women's Premier League season still lies ahead.
Ghana women's football has a fresh statement of intent, and Hasaacas Ladies are the ones making it. The Doo Ladies beat Ampem Darkoa Ladies 1-0 in the Champion of Champions at the Otumfuo Astro Turf in Dichemso, Kumasi, but their coach is refusing to get carried away.
Milot Abena Pokuaa settled the contest in the 61st minute, giving Hasaacas the opening piece of silverware before the new domestic campaign. For a side preparing to defend their standing among the best in Ghana, it was exactly the kind of early boost they wanted.
Raymond Fenny, though, is keeping his feet firmly on the ground. He admits the team are only about 70 to 75 per cent ready for the 2026/27 Women's Premier League and expects a season that is extremely demanding. Having watched several of the other sides, he believes the competition will be stiff, and he repeatedly stressed just how tough the months ahead will be.
Still, the coach sees the trophy as fuel. He described it as a major source of motivation and hopes the winning feeling will help his players sharpen up before the league kicks off on the weekend of October 23, 2026. The first test is no gentle introduction: Hasaacas open against Army Ladies, a side Fenny rates as very strong.
The message from Kumasi is clear. The silverware is in the cabinet, but the real work starts now, and Hasaacas know they have gaps to close before the league whistle blows.
