Darragh MacAnthony has rejected Dale Vince's claim that Peterborough broke the rules by chasing Forest Green boss Robbie Savage.
Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has flatly denied that his club made an illegal approach for Robbie Savage, firing back at accusations from Forest Green Rovers chief Dale Vince.
Vince had alleged that Peterborough went after Savage, then in the Forest Green dugout, without following the proper channels. Approaching a manager who is under contract without the current club's permission is a breach of the rules, which is why the claim carries so much weight.
MacAnthony, never shy about speaking his mind, rejected the allegation outright and insisted Peterborough did nothing improper. His response sets up a public difference of opinion between two of the more outspoken owners in English football.
For now it is one side's word against the other's. How the row develops will depend on whether Forest Green take the complaint any further, but the war of words has already put both clubs in the spotlight.
