Barcelona are the best club in the world in the 21st century.

The Blaugrana have been chosen by the IFFHS (International Federation of Football, History and Statistics) as the most outstanding club of the decade (2011-2020).

Curiously, Barcelona already achieved this distinction in 2001 and 2010, so their dominance over the last few years is clear.

Barcelona’s last decade is impressive in terms of trophies – two Club World Cups, two Champions Leagues, six LaLiga Santander titles – but the trophies won is not the only factor taken into account by the IFFHS, as matters such as the number of matches won, goals scored and goals conceded are also important.

The IFFHS ranking is led by Barcelona with 2,877 points, followed by Real Madrid, with 95 points less (2,782), and Bayern Munich (2,594.5).

Fourth in the table are Paris Saint-Germain and in fifth spot are Atletico Madrid. In other words, there are three Spanish clubs in the top five. The next Spanish club are Sevilla in 13th.

Gremio Porto Alegrense are the first non-UEFA club to appear in the ranking, coming in 14th place.

By year, Barcelona were voted as the best club in 2011, 2012 and 2015, Real Madrid in 2015 and 2017, and Bayern Munich in 2013 and 2020.
