Lookman scores debut goal as Atletico Madrid thrash Real Betis to reach Copa del Rey semis

Ademola Lookman was on target on his debut for Atletico Madrid in a 5-0 win away at Real Betis in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on Thursday.

The Super Eagles forward completed a €40 million move from Atalanta on transfer deadline day on Monday and started against Betis alongside French forward Antoine Griezmann.
Slovak defender David Hancko put Atleti ahead in the 12th minute followed by the second from son of head coach Diego Simone, Giuliano.
Lookman’s moment came in the 37th minute when he evaded two defenders before firing a shot past goalkeeper Adrian for the 100th goal of his career for both club and country.

Atleti had room for more goals in the second half at Estadio de la Cartuja as Lookman assisted Griezmann for the fourth goal while Argentine winger Thiago Almada netted the fifth and final goal.
The Spanish capital giants have now progressed into the semi-finals and will face either rivals Barcelona or basque sides Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad ahead of Friday’s draw.
