Saracens have dismissed 21-year-old forward Totoa Auvaa after an internal probe into a St Albans incident, ending his stay at the Premiership club.
Saracens have shown Totoa Auvaa the door. The Premiership club confirmed on Monday evening that the 21-year-old Samoan forward has been dismissed after an internal investigation into an incident in St Albans over the weekend.
The club said his conduct fell short of the standards it expects from its players. The decision follows a second alcohol-related episode for the young forward, which left Saracens little room to manoeuvre.
Auvaa's name was already known beyond rugby. He was part of a night out last summer with England cricketers Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson, an evening that set off a captaincy storm in English cricket. That earlier episode has now been revived by his latest trouble.
For a player so early in his career, the sacking is a major setback. Saracens, meanwhile, have made clear that off-field behaviour carries consequences, whatever a player's age or potential.
